DV Run 2016 is an activity which held by Keluarga Mahasiswa Budha Dhammavaddhana (KMBD) of Binus University, it is a charity event for street children in Indonesia which participant have to do 5 km marathon. It was held in Pasar Seni Ancol on 4 December 2016. This event started from 7 am. Beside marathon, DV Run also had another show, like performance from guest stars and also many bazaar.

Reasons why I participate DV Run 2016, because my friend persuade me to joined the activity, it also has some good benefit for me and the street children. The registration fee is going to be give as charity for Street Children, it will help them for better life. Another reason I participated it, I can get Social Hour to help me in making my thesis. Beside those reason, I also want to have a physical exercise such as running, so I joined DV Run to motivate me to do running. 

What can I learn from DV Run 2016 are from running we could make our body healthy and it is a fun activity which can be do together with friend. Also, from this event, I also learn that many people are good person from how many participant in the event, they joined the marathon in order for charity and their own good reason. And I believe that we should help each other in happiness and sadness, such as help the street Children although we only help in financial not directly. I could only say to the street Children that maybe life is hard for us, but if we keep trying facing it we our ability we can handle it in good way and it will get us to a better life. Like this run, 5 km run was hard, but if we try it with all of our strength we can do it.

Street Children can be cause by family problem, like financial problem which lead to poverty. And usually Street Children have to become a beggar to help their family financial. Because of this kind of activity, many of them get arrest by police and send to Social Service. The children also got abuse by their parents or other people and do not get their rights as children, they do not get an education, so some of them still can not read and write. Many think them as part of trash of society. From this kind of violation to children, we as Indonesian should help them to get better life, by giving them financial support and observe them to grow as better human. We could give them education for free, like teach them how to read, write and count. We give them free education in order not to burden their family. And also we must give them good health care to help them have a healthy life.

That’s all I can say and learn from DV Run 2016. Thank you for helping the street children of Indonesia by held a charity run.
