General Orientation
On 15th August 2016, Binus University held the 4th General Orientation (GO) for Binus Freshmen. This ocation is one of Freshmen Enrichmen Program (FEP) from Binus, this event will help students to know more about Binus University, it was held for 1 week (6 days). In this blog I want to talk about my experience and what I learned and got from this program.
On the first day, August 15, I went to Binus Syahdan Campus, where I will meet all other freshmen of Binus. I was arrive on time that day. Many of the freshmen were wearing casual clothes not a uniform on that day. My class name for General Orientation was DBN 1, but students from DBN 1 were combine with students from DBN 2. All of us met up in room K1B at Syahdan Campus. We met with our coordinator or Buddy Coordinator ((BC) in Binus), they guided us to know more about Binus and told their experience when studied in Binus. Most of the freshmen in DBN 1&2 are Global Class students from varieties of Faculties in Binus. All of us introduced ourself, so that we can know each other. That day, I do not really well remember all of my new friends, but I tried to approach them and talk about what kind of things that we have same interest. In the middle of our session, our BC told us to choose the class leader for our GO class. All of us vote for one student as class president, named Devin and Tiwi, as his Vice president. At the end session, we were given a folder and Flazz car holder for FEP. Before we all back to our houses, Muslim Freshmen were met up together to get speech from Majelis Taqlim of Binus, and talk about motivation to study hard in Binus and promote their activity.
The second day, A all of Binus Freshmen wear white shirt, black colored pants and dark or light colored shoes. We wear those, in order to different us from other Students of Binus. The first session was Binus Journey, it was start from 9.00 am until 12.30 pm, all of us attended to a class, this session was for introducing Binus University to all of us, Binusian 2020. After that, we had break time for 20 minutes. Why 20 minutes ? Because 20 minutes is usually break time from one session to another when we study in college. Then, we went to auditorium or room 400, for the next session, Bunga Rampai. Binusian 2020 from all DBN class came there. This session was for introducing all of student’s activities or student’s club in Binus. All of the club was shown spectacular. Each of them has their own unique style to show their club activity. For me, the unique one was performed by ST MANIS, a theater club from Binus University, they showed their best performance and combined it with other club. At 4 pm in the afternoon, the session for that day was over, all of us went back to home.
The next day was 17 August 2016, it was Indonesia Independence Day, All of DBN students came to Binus Kijang Campus for Flag Ceremony, it was started from 7 until 9 am. After ceremony, Binus held some competitions, there were 4 types of competitions and all of DBN class should sent representative from each class. My friend and I joined the competitions, we won 3 out of 4 competitions. On fourth day, we were learn about all of rules in Binus University and How to be success. Then we learnt how to access Binus Maya, website for Binusian, in this site, we can look for study schedules, activities, score and also mail.
On the fifth day, my friends, DBN 1&2 went to Anggrek Campus before the first session start, we gathered to practice our Class anthem for Togetherness (Kebersamaan) session on the Last day. The last session on the fifth day was Binus Way, the Vice Rector Students Affairs & Community Development, Drs. Andreas Chang, MBA was giving a speech about officers in Binus, how to study in Binus, what has Binus achieved until now and he also motivated us to study.
On the last day, all of freshmen from DBN class got time to sign up for club in Binus, all of the club has shown in Bunga Rampai session. There were also student communities from all faculties of Binus University. Then, all of us went to Hall in Syahdan Campus for final session, each of DBN class performed their own unique anthem. Everyone was enjoying each class performances. After that, my class and other took class pictures. I enjoyed the general orientation, although my friends and I were tired but we learn many things from it and had fun time.
