Academic Orientation
Academic Orientation is a session or prestudy in Binus University for freshmen. It will help new students to adapt with way of learning in University. Academic Orientation or AO was held for 2 weeks.
On the first day of AO, all of students from faculty of Computer Science, had a class in room 400 or auditorium. The class started at 7.20 am, but it was delay because some technical problem in the attandence. We learnt Algorithm in auditorium, and some of the student answered an example of algorithm question based on daily life activity. Then we continue the session with a seminar, the lecturer invited an Alumni from Binus University who is now become CEO of his own start-up company. The Alumni talked about his life experience, and how was his study in Binus University. He also answer some of student’s questions about How to study in Binus and how he created his company. After break time, at noon, students from my class, IT Global Class came to room 523. We learnt about public speaking and how to create good presentation from our lecturer, miss Zulfany. At the end of class we got some assignment which deadline is 24 September 2016.
Second day, we learnt about our faculty curriculum in the auditorium. In this session we got to know lecturers from our faculty and study materials which we will learn in Computer Science Faculty. Next session, my friends and I went to room 529, we were introduce to Binus University support center for our study life, which include Library, Computer Lab, and other center.
The next day, we learnt algorithm and how to write psuedo code, we also had an exercise. For me, it was kind of hard, but I got what the meaning of the code, because of it, I want to learn more. On Saturday, all of students of Computer Science got a GSLC, stands for Guide Self Learning Class. It should be a virtual class or we could have a forum in Binus Maya. But, in that day we had to attend an event called HTTP (Himti Togetherness and Top Performance) by Himti. After attended this event, we had to write an article about it, because it was one of our assignments.
On the second week of AO, we went to Computer Laboratorium or room 628 and 721. In there we learnt how to write computer program by using C language. After that we got an assignment to write a code. The next day we studied about introduction of Information Technology (IT).
On September 15, we had an exam for our AO, the test was kind of hard for me, especially the program test. On the last day of AO, all of Global Class students gathered in room 800 for Introduction to Global Class session.
